Jared Terrell committed to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Fans of basketball at Oklahoma State who were looking for the Cowboys to land a signature recruit in the Class of 2014, the search is over after sources confirmed the program landed a commitment from Jared Terrell of New Hampton (N.H) Brewster Academy on Saturday.
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound shooting guard is considered as one of the best in the business. Terrell is the nation's No. 13 player at his position in the 247Sports Rankings and No. 38 overall.
In terms of his decision, the writing appeared to be on the wall when one-time Oklahoma State commit Joe Thomasson had a change of heart. The junior college prospect could have played in the same backcourt as Terrell, but decided to explore his options this week.
Rhode Island was thought to be the frontrunner for a pledge from Terrell. Cincinnati and Providence were also players at one stage of the game. However, all signs point to an official visit to Stillwater on Aug. 22 as being a trip that helped to seal the deal for coach Travis Ford and his assistants.
Terrell is the first commitment for the Cowboys during the current cycle and do not be surprised to see him end up as the gem of the recruiting class. Moreover, he could be the first domino to fall. There is a distinct possibility prospects could follow his lead. That said, stay tuned.
